Booking recurring service is the simplest way to bring the per-visit price down — weekly and biweekly schedules are usually discounted against one-off visits, because the home stays in a steadier condition.
What changes the price
- Size and condition. Square footage matters less than how long since the last clean. A neglected two-bedroom can cost more than a maintained four-bedroom.
- Bathrooms. Usually priced per room, and the most labour-intensive part of any visit.
- Add-ons. Inside the oven and fridge, interior windows, laundry and wall washing are almost always extra.
- Pets. Shedding adds time, and some companies charge for it.
- Frequency. One-off visits carry the highest rate; weekly the lowest.
What to check before you book
- Whether the company is insured and bonded — this matters most when you hand over keys or a door code.
- Whether cleaners are employees or subcontractors, and who is liable for damage.
- Whether supplies and equipment are included or you provide them.
- What exactly is in the standard scope, in writing, and what counts as an add-on.
- Cancellation terms and the policy if the crew arrives and cannot get in.
- For recurring service, whether the same cleaner comes each time.

What is the difference between a standard and a deep clean?
A standard clean maintains a home that is already in reasonable shape: surfaces, floors, bathrooms, kitchen. A deep clean adds the things nobody does weekly — inside appliances, baseboards, grout, behind and under furniture. Most companies want a deep clean first if the home has not been cleaned professionally before.
Should I tip a house cleaner in Ontario?
It is not expected the way it is in restaurants, but it is common — often $10–$20 per cleaner for a one-off visit, or a larger amount once a year for regular service. If cleaners are employees of a company, tipping goes to them, not the company.
